Job Description

ProSource of Plymouth is looking for a purchaser for three locations in the Greater Minneapolis area.

This position is responsible for the purchasing of inventory items, supplies, and services to meet the needs of the company and the customers that it serves.

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Manages and purchases inventory to fulfill customer orders and select stocked merchandise.
  • Reviews open orders and inventory for potential situations and takes necessary action to prevent customer and stock issues. Participates in the identification of customer orders, stock, and overstock items through various means.
  • Develops relationships with vendors keeping them informed of inventory issues, special orders, and returns.
  • Acts as a liaison between sales, warehousing, and customers in an effort to track shipments and orders by updating notes on the purchase order as well as letting sales staff know that the changes we made.
  • Issues accurate purchase orders on a timely basis to ensure delivery of inventory.
  • Monitors the lead time of all purchase orders and communicates status accordingly.
  • Maintains accurate costs and lead time information.
  • Compares backorder and open purchase order reports daily, confirming ship dates on all purchase orders.
  • Prepares written correspondence to vendors and other departments if needed.
  • Assists accounts payable and receiving in reconciling discrepancies.
  • Works in a collaborative manner with sales regarding new product sourcing, faulty products, and customer requirements in order to achieve shared objectives.

Job Requirements

Our preferred candidate will have some college and a minimum of two years of purchasing experience, preferably in the home improvement industry. 

  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing to internal and external parties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and maintain strict deadlines.
  • Ability to see a job or project through to final completion.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
